Marley’s final words to his son Ziggy were "Money can't buy life". True. But Bob’s music bought him longevity of a different kind. Over 30 years on from his death his music continues to be purchased in platinum quantities and inspires millions across the world. Three countries were of significance in Bob’s short life (just 36 when he died); Jamaica, the USA and England. Our tour explores the last of these, concentrating on London, the city that arguably provided the launch pad for his fame. Amongst the locations and sites you’ll see are houses and apartments where he lived, including those of his first visit to the city with the Wailers in the early 1970s. You’ll see the famed Island recording studios where so much of his latter recordings were made, and tour the theatre where the seminal ‘Exodus’ live performance was recorded. You’ll also see some to the original gig sites where both Marley and his reggae pioneers performed, including the famed ‘Mangrove Club’. You’ll also enjoy a walking tour of the Nottinghill neighbourhood, still so much associated with Britain’s Caribbean community and with Marley himself. This tour explores Marley’s life and heritage, his legacy and his continued influence on reggae and associated musical styles. Reservations reservations@londonrocktour.com |
